So we're back.

Again.

You might have noticed it looks a little different around here. Things are a bit newer, a bit shinier, a bit... more organized. I like organized.

To be honest, I wasn't really happy with the way my old site worked. I like blogging, but when the entire site is just BLOGBLOGBLOG with no real good way to organize the rest of what I wanted on it, it became a problem. So I moved the whole thing to a new service and began restructuring. It's been a labour of love for the past few months and I'm incredibly pleased with the results so far. I've got a few things left to hammer out, but figured the site was in good enough shape for a re-launch. So here we are. Yay.

There's a few notable new things, so let's get to 'em.

  1. Tutorials are now all in one place! No more trying to scroll down my entire blog. Woo!

  2. I now have a better way to organize and display my costume portfolio. The section is still a work in progress since there's... a lot... but I'll be able to link my write-ups directly to each costume, as well as go into more detail on the outfits themselves.

  3. NEW - RESOURCES. This where it gets exciting. I hummed and hawed about doing this, but this new section is where I'll be uploading ~*~free~*~ vectors and prop/armor patterns I've made for my own cosplays. "But Carina, that's a lot of hard work. Couldn't you charge money for them?" I mean, yeah, probably, but also I feel like that treads real dangerously towards potential copyright infringement (since I'm literally tracing licensed images) so I'd rather not risk it. Also sharing is caring, and what else was I going to do with all these Illustrator files on my computer? (Although I do have a Ko-Fi account... *coughcough*)

That said, I'm offering commissions for patterns and vectors I don't plan to do for myself, so feel free to send me a message if you'd like to see something specific! The only caveat is that I be allowed to post the finished product on the site as part of the free collection.

  4. NEW - STORE. OwO, what's this? SPEAKING OF MONEY. Hi, I have a print store now. Selection is limited at the moment to gauge interest, but I plan to add more as I get shoots done/print rights sorted out/et cetera et cetera. This will also be the future home to patterns as I develop them. "But wait, you just said--" Sewing patterns, my friend. Fully graded and sized sewing patterns. It's a bit of an ambitious project, but I have a few I've developed for myself that I want to scan and grade that I think folks will find useful (Evangelion school romper, Cindy's cropped jacket, to name a couple).

I have a few more announcements coming up in the near future, but I'm saving those for when I'm 100% ready to reveal them.

So, what's next? Site content-wise, I'm working on a couple of things right now, including costume write-ups for this year's projects so far (I'm already 4 behind, help), some more tutorials, and getting my costume porfolio 100% up and running. Outside the site I have some shoots planned for this weekend, including one of my Alkaid costume that I recently won Best In Show with at Animethon, and I'm beginning work on a commission for KH3 Riku that I'm making for a friend. Depending on how that goes I might open myself up to doing sewing commissions in general, since I'm still very much unemployed and ya girl needs both some positive cash flow and something to do with her free time besides go to the gym and play Cities: Skylines, but we'll see.

With that said, I hope you guys enjoy the new look and feel of everything and I'll catch you next time!
